YOUR FIRST AI TASK

Start small.
Review what matters.

Practice giving an AI tool one clear task, useful context, and a simple review checklist.

1. Choose a familiar task.

Pick something you already know how to judge: a follow-up message, a checklist, or a short explanation. Start with fictional or non-sensitive information.

2. Give a clear brief.

State the goal, audience, facts the tool may use, and the format you need. Tell it to identify missing information rather than fill gaps.

3. Try this practice prompt.

Draft a friendly follow-up email under 100 words using only these facts:
A potential client wants help organizing weekly social posts.
We agreed that they would share one example of a past post.
Ask which part of creating content takes the most time.
Do not invent prices, deadlines, results, or commitments.
Use [Name] and [Your name] as placeholders.

4. Compare your result with this example.

Hi [Name],

Thank you for talking through your weekly social posts. Please share one example of a past post so we can identify a useful starting point. Which part of creating content takes you the most time?

—[Your name]

This is an illustrative draft, not a promised result from an AI tool. Check that your version contains only the supplied facts and makes the requested next step clear.

5. Keep the process.

Save the prompt with a checklist: facts correct, names checked, tone suitable, no invented promises, and ready for human approval. Review account privacy and sharing settings before using real business materials.
